UIP has confirmed local distribution plans for Spanish feature film, The Weakness Of The Bolshevik (La Flaqueza Del Bolchevique) (working title), currently in post-production.

UIP will release the film in Spain next September 26 on around 100 prints and is expected to invest approximately Euros 300,000 for p&a.

Producer Jose Antonio Romero of Rioja Films says he is fielding interest from foreign, including US, distributors on the $2m film which wrapped shooting in December.

A romantic drama about an impossible attraction between a 30-something businessman and a teenage girl, Bolshevik stars Luis Tosar, who recently won a best supporting actor Goya Award for Mondays In The Sun, alongside Mar Regueras and newcomer Maria Valverde.

Manuel Martin Cuenca, the film's debut feature director, picked up the Golden Apple prize last month at the New York Latino Film Festival for his documentary The Cuban Game (El Juego De Cuba). He co-wrote the script with Lorenzo Silva, author of the original award-winning novel of the same name.
