Online rental serviceBoxchoice.com has shut after UK High Court enforcement officers seized itsstock.

The move was part of theRental Rights Protection Programme (RRPP) against copyright infringement.

The RRPP, an organisation launchedlast year by the Federation Against Copyright Theft and distributors, obtaineda High Court injunction in March ordering Boxchoice to stop renting out retailproducts.

But the company allegedly failedto comply and so its stocks were seized.

Boxchoice, which claimed tooffer more than 15,000 titles, was previously fined £14,000.

An RRPP spokesman said: "Thisresult sends another clear message to the trade that the RRPP is willing totake whatever steps necessary to prevent infringement of its members' rentalrights."

It promises to bring furtheractions in the UK and Ireland in the coming weeks.

The distributors participatingin the initiative are Warner Bros. Entertainment UK Ltd, Twentieth Century FoxHome Entertainment Limited, Paramount Home Entertainment (UK), UniversalPictures (UK) Ltd, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment UK and Buena Vista HomeEntertainment (UK & Ireland) a division of the Walt Disney Company Limited.
