UK distributor Contender Entertainment Group has takenall rights to Suburban Mayhem fromsales company Fortissimo Films.

Thefilm, in Cannes official selection, is Contender's first non-Asianfilm acquisition and its second deal with Fortissimo following Tsui Hark's Seven Swords.

Australiandirector Paul Goldman's Suburban Mayhem followsa 19-year-old single mom who plans a murder that will disrupt her suburbancommunity. The film stars Emily Barclay, last seen in In My Father's Den, Michael Dorman andRobert Morgan.

Fortissimo's senior VPinternational sales Nicole Mackey negotiated the deal with Contender's acquisitionsmanager Jo Sweby.

"Contender look for exciting and unusual films so we were keen toacquire the brilliantly dark Suburban Mayhem," said Sweby."We are really pleased to be working with Fortissimo again."

Contender plans a UK theatrical release in early 2007.
