Following tradition, Spain's International Film Week of Valladolid (Oct 26-Nov 3) gave a sneak preview of its forthcoming 46th edition by revealing the Spanish films and co-productions participating in the festival.

Three Spanish feature films will compete in the official section, including Toni Salgot's Dama De Porto Pim, Manane Rodriguez's Los Pasos Perdidos and Javier Balaguer's Solo Mia.

Ken Loach's The Navigators and Argentine director Juan Jose Campanella's El Hijo De La Novia, both Spanish co-productions, will also screen in the official section. Loach's film, however, will not compete for the festival's top prizes, the Silver and Golden Spike, worth Euros30,050 and Euros15,025 respectively.

Spanish films also have strong representation in the official short film competition, as well as the "Meeting Point" and "History Time" parallel sections. Sidebars this year include two retrospectives - Todo Visconti and Eric Rohmer's Six Moral Tales - and hommages dedicated to Spanish scriptwriter Carlos Blanco and Hungarian animator Ferenc Cako.

Dutch animated films since 1976 and Korea's Academy of Film Arts will be the subjects of two other sidebars. Top winners at Valladolid last year were Golden Spike winners Darren Aronofsky's Requiem For A Dream and Robert Guediguian's La Ville Est Tranquille, Silver Spike winner Girlfight from director Karyn Kusama, and best new director Stephen Daldry for Billy Elliot.
