Spanish industry veteran Ramon Colom has resigned from his position as head of contents and programming at Spanish digital satellite platform Via Digital.

His resignation, the latest in a series of high-level personnel shuffles at the various holdings of Admira, Telefonica's media subsidiary, is unlikely to come as a surprise.

While no replacement for Colom has been announced, Javier Mendez, director of acquisitions at Admira free-to-air broadcaster Antena 3, has been appointed new head of acquisitions for Via's content and programming division.

Colom is considered responsible for building up Via Digital's content portfolio, particularly star film channel Gran Via. The ownership and management of Gran Via was recently transferred from Via to Admira, a factor which observers believe to be instrumental to Colom's resignation.
