Focus Features has picked up international rights to the new, as yet untitled, comedy from Chris and Paul Weitz, the film-making duo behind About A Boy and American Pie.

Focus picked up the rights from parent company Universal Pictures which is distributing in North America.

Dennis Quaid stars in the film as a senior advertising executive who is forced in a corporate reshuffle to work for an inexperienced twenty-something, played by Topher Grace (Traffic, TV's That Seventies Show). The situation becomes worse for the Quaid character when his daughter falls for his boss.

The film is produced by the Weitz brothers' company Depth Of Field for Universal. Paul Weitz wrote the picture and will direct, Chris Weitz will produce while Depth Of Field's Andrew Miano will executive produce.

"This is a classic comedy from a very talented team whose success with the genre has been proven time over,' said David Linde, co-president of Focus. 'With its universal themes and comfortable mix of comedy and romance we are confident of excellent sales across the world."

Quaid is currently enjoying a career resurgence after star turns in The Rookie and Far From Heaven and will appear in three blockbuster releases next year - Disney's The Alamo, Fox's The Day After Tomorrow and Fox's The Flight Of The Phoenix. Grace, star of TV's That Seventies Show, is on the rise with upcoming roles in Dylan Kidd's PS I Love You and Robert Luketic's Win A Date With Tad Hamilton. Both Quaid and Grace starred in Steven Soderbergh's Traffic in 2000, although they shared no scenes together.

The Untitled Weitz Brothers project, which was formerly known as Synergy, is scheduled to start production early next year.
