Winchester Films has acquired international sales rights to Billy Morrissette's Scotland, PA, a comedic retelling of Macbeth set in a fast-food restaurant in rural 1970s Pennsylvania. The deal was concluded between Winchester and New York-based production outfit Abandon Pictures.

Domestic rights to the film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year, were bought by Lot 47 Films, who will release it on Feb 8. The ensemble cast includes Maura Tierney, James LeGros, Christopher Walken, Kevin Corrigan, Amy Smart, Timothy Speed Levitch and Andy Dick.

LeGris and Tierney play Joe and Pat McBeth who devise a plan to take over their bosses' restaurant and become king and queen of the fast food industry.

"This is a truly funny and original take on Macbeth," said Winchester Films President Hadeel Reda. "Billy's unique sensibilities give this film a dimension and style that set it apart."

"We are excited to partner with a company of Winchesters caliber," said Karen Lauder, chairman of Abandon Pictures. "We know that their passion and enthusiasm for the material will contribute greatly to the films international success."

Winchester, which has high-profile deals in place with Windancer Films and The Donners Company, has been highly selective about taking on films for international representation in the last year. Prior to London Screenings last year, the company took on select international rights to New Best Friend, a college-age drama formerly on MGM's slate. Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group took North and Latin American rights and Asian rights excluding Japan and Korea on the picture formerly known as Mary Jane's Last Dance.
