The opening film of the inaugural Rome Film Festival is to be Steven Shainberg's Diane Arbus biopic Fur.

Its star Nicole Kidman will present the film at a grand opening gala on October 13th in the Santa Cecilia Hall at the Auditorium Parco della Musica.

Fur is an adaptation of Patricia Bosworth's biography of iconic US photographer Arbus.

The film is produced and distributed internationally by New Line Cinema and released in Italy by Nexo.

Rome has also announced two other major premieres: Paolo Virzi's Napoleonic drama N, starring Monica Bellucci; and Mira Nair's The Namesake starring Kal Penn, Irfan Khan and Tabu.
