Cynthia J Wornham has beennamed the Sundance Institute's new director of external affairs, and willoversee all strategic communications initiatives and media relations effortsrelated to the Institute and its artists when she starts work this autumn.

Wornham, who is currently anexecutive vice president of Ruder Finn Arts & Communications Counselorsheading up its West Coast office, has broad experience as a strategiccommunications and media relations professional working with non-profitorganisations and private corporations.

"Cynthia Wornham comes toSundance at a moment when our programmes are reaching new audiences on anational and international scale," Sundance Institute's executive director KenBrecher said in a statement.

"As a leader in her professionand with her extensive experience, Cynthia will play a key role instrengthening the Institute's mission to support independent artists fromaround the world."

Wornham will collaboratedirectly with Brecher and the senior management team and will also supportInstitute initiatives related to marketing, community relations andpublications.

" The Institute isrecognised as one of the most creative and dynamic organisations in itscommitment to independent film and film-makers, both nationally and internationally,"Wornham said.

"I look forward to havingthe opportunity to work with the creative community of the Institute to help infurthering the development of artists of independent vision and the exhibitionof their new work."

Prior to serving five yearswith Ruder Finn A&CC, Wornham managed strategic communications, mediarelations and marketing for the J Paul Getty Trust, among other posts.
