Sony Pictures has set Aaron Sorkin’s follow-up to The Social Network – now officially titled The Social Reckoning – for an awards season corridor release on October 9, 2026.
Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Jeremy Strong and Bill Burr have been confirmed to star.
Described as a “companion piece” to the original 2010 drama about Mark Zuckerberg and the origins of Facebook, The Social Reckoning, which has yet to start production, will be based on Sorkin’s original screenplay about a young Facebook engineer (Madison) who enlists the help of a Wall Street Journal reporter (White) to blow the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets.
Sorkin is also set to direct the new project, and produce with Todd Black, Peter Rice and Stuart Besser.
Written by Sorkin, directed by David Fincher and starring Jesse Eisenberg and Rooney Mara, The Social Network was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won the Oscars for Sorkin’s adapted screenplay, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ original score and Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter’s editing. The film earned $226m at the global box office.
