Robert Cawsey’s comedy-horror feature Don’t Even Go There has topped The Brit List of unproduced screenplays from emerging UK talent, which saw a marked increase in scripts without production companies attached.
Cawsey’s script follows a family hiking trip in Wales that is intended to bring a young man and his estranged parents closer, only for it to go horribly wrong when an ancient monster is unleashed, seeking revenge on the locals.
It received 24 recommendations, with a minimum of seven required to make the list.
The Brit List is compiled from recommendations by UK production companies, talent agencies, sales companies, financiers, distributors and broadcasters.

Of the 15 titles on the list, it is one of 12 without a production company attached. This is up from last year, when only three of 13 listed titles were without production companies, and 2023, when it was five of 13.
The lack of production companies also applied at the submissions stage, with most of the 200 recommendations without a production company attached.
“This is surely a reflection of the challenging times the film and TV industries are currently facing, and makes it more important than ever that we, as an industry, continue to take risks and have the conviction to back brilliant storytelling,” said The Brit List founder and director Alexandra Arlango.
Arlango also noted “a high number of scripts in the sci-fi and horror genre… balanced with a higher number of scripts that lean into comedy.”
Genre titles on the list include Dylan Ritson and Blake Ritson’s sci-fi P.O.V., the project with the second-highest number of recommendations, with 20. Also available to production companies, the feature film is set in a dystopian world where state-issued glasses control everyone’s outlook on life, but a faulty prescription opens a man’s eyes to a reality he can’t unsee.
Four of the titles on the list are feature film scripts, with 11 television scripts, including Dylan Brady’s erotic thriller Discretion, produced by Kudos, about a struggling actor working as a nanny who plots to seduce his employers - a high-flying producer and her movie star husband – to gain advantage from their industry connections, without realising he’s walking into a trap
Selected writers will have the opportunity to attend a six-month programme featuring weekly seminars from industry guest speakers, including showrunners, producers, buyers, and specialists in personal finance, mental health, pitching techniques and personal branding.
Crime series The Rubber Faced Men topped last year’s list, while previous features to have appeared on the list include The King’s Speech, Paddington and The Favourite.
