Producer Stuart Cornfeld will receive the AFI’s 2013 Franklin J Schaffner Alumni Medal on Jun 6.

Cornfeld will receive the honour as part of the AFI Life Achievement Award honouring Mel Brooks.

The Franklin J Schaffner Alumni Medal recognises “the extraordinary creative talents of a graduate of the AFI Conservatory or AFI Directing Workshop for Women who symbolises the legacy of Franklin Schaffner.”

Cornfeld was part of the AFI class of 1975 and went on to work with Brooks as his assistant on High Anxiety and serve as associate producer on History Of The World Part 1.

He has produced The Fly, Zoolander and Tropic Thunder [pictured], among others, and served as executive producer on The Elephant Man.
