Los Angeles-based production and distribution outfit Lightning Entertainment has picked up international sales to the drama This Girl's Life starring James Woods and the romantic comedy Perfect Opposites with Piper Perabo and Martin Henderson.

In This Girl's Life a porn star hides her profession from the man she loves and her ailing father. Woods (John Q) stars along with Rosario Dawson (The Rundown), Kip Pardue (Driven), Michael Rappaport (Small Time Crooks) and newcomer Juliette Marquis.

The picture was written and directed by British film-maker Ash, whose credits include Pups and Little Warriors. Ash produced with Boro Vukadinovic (I Love Your Work), David Hillary (I Love Your Work, Love Liza) and Chris Hanley (The Virgin Suicides, Love Liza).

Perfect Opposites centres on a young couple struggling with their relationship during the transition from college days to adulthood. Perabo (Cheaper By The Dozen), Henderson (Torque), Jennifer Tilly (Bullets Over Broadway) and Joe Pantoliano (Memento).

Matt Cooper and Stewart J Zully co-wrote and Cooper directed in his feature debut. Cooper also produced with Loris Miller (Panic). Lightning acquired the picture from Santa Monica-based production company The Vault.

Lightning president Richard Guardian said both films "exhibit material and situations that a broad demographic can relate to.

"Many people understand to some degree the emotional struggles and personal dramas showcased in This Girl's Life as well as the lighter relationship issues brought to life in Perfect Opposites."

Both deals were negotiated on behalf of Lightning Entertainment by Guardian and partners Marc Greenberg and Rich Goldberg.

David Cooper for the Vault handled negotiations for Perfect Opposites and Jonathan Dana represented the producers on negotiations for This Girl's Life.
