Anchor Bay Entertainment has picked up US rights to Surfer, Dude starring and produced by Matthew McConaughey in a deal brokered by CAA.

The company plans a late summer release followed by DVD roll-out in the tale of a pro surfer who returns home to Malibu and experiences an existential crisis.

Woody Harrelson, Willie Nelson and Scott Glenn star and S R Bindler directed. McConaughey's production company jklivin produced and Jason Berk and Matt Lane served as executive producers and financed the project through their Beverly Hills-based Berk-Lane Entertainment.

Additional financing came from Winchester Capital Management.

CAA's Mark Ward and Josh Thomashow negotiated the deal with Anchor Bay Entertainment and represents McConaughey.
