Andy Weltman has been appointed production executive by British Film Commissioner Colin Brown.
Weltman will be based in the UK Film Council US office in Los Angeles, and he will be responsible for building relationships with US film-makers hoping to shoot in the UK.
Colin Brown said: 'I'm delighted that Andy has joined our team. Together with Claire Chapman our Executive Director in the US, Andy will look at maximising the opportunities for US filmmakers to make their films in the UK.'
Weltman has been an independent film producer and most recently oversaw Saltire Film and Television's feature film division in LA and Glasgow. He previously worked on films including Dead Poets Society, The Perfect Storm and Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World.
Weltman added: 'I am honoured to be joining the team in the UK Film Council's US office. Outside of Hollywood, there is no place that matches the UK in terms of quality of filmmaking, depth of crew and variety of locations. I'm excited to be in a position to help US filmmakers shoot their films on the other side of the pond.'
