Ann Dubinet has joined Keith Kjarval's Los Angeles-based production, distribution and sales company Unified Pictures as head of strategic planning, acquisitions and distribution after spending a period consulting for the company.

Dubinet will report to Kjarval and will oversee the company's international sales and distribution operations as well as domestic distribution and the marketing of all Unified titles. She will also evaluate projects for production and acquisition.

Dubinet previously served as a consultant and helped Unified launch its worldwide sales arm and oversaw international sales at the European Film Market in Berlin.

'Ann is an excellent assessor of quality film with a very impressive background wearing several executive hats,' Kjarval said. 'She will be instrumental in continuing the company's success as we will look to her to spearhead the execution of the company's broad strategic initiatives heading into Cannes and beyond.'

The Cannes slate includes Bob Funk with Rachael Leigh Cook, revenge noir The Perfect Sleep starring Roselyn Sanchez and the thriller XII starring Mercedes McNab.

'The Unified Partners are committed to creating visionary films without losing sight of the various sectors of the market that can lead to success both critically and commercially,' Dubinet said.

'With the studio specialty arms producing films with budgets upwards of $40m there isn't a lot of room to build a new talent pool It's time to discover and launch the next generation.'

Prior to joining Unified, Dubinet was president of Morgan Freeman's international production company Global Revelations, served as president of distribution at Myriad Pictures and previously held senior positions at Artisan Entertainment, Island/World and The Samuel Goldwyn Company.
