Arclight Films has picked upinternational rights to the Romulus, My Father,an adaptation of Raimond Gaita's award-winning memoir that will star Eric Bana.

Australian theatre directorand actor Richard Roxburgh will direct the story of a young family's bid tostart a new life in a hostile country. The story focuses on the relationshipbetween the boy and his father in the wake of his mother's death.

Principal photography isscheduled to begin in February 2006 in Australia, with Robert Connolly and John Maynard's Arenafilmproducing. Playwright Nick Drake adapted the screenplay.

"When we learned that EricBana, who had just finished working with Curtis Hanson and Steven Spielberg,had placed his trust in Richard Roxburgh for his next project we knew Arclighthad to be involved in his return to Australian cinema for this powerful story,"Arclight managing director Gary Hamilton said.

Bana's upcoming projectsinclude the lead in Curtis Hanson's high-stakes poker drama Lucky Youopposite Drew Barrymore and Robert Duvall, and another starring role in StevenSpielberg's Munich opposite Geoffrey Rush.

Arclight recently picked upworldwide rights to Ambush Entertainment's comedy The Oh In Ohio, and Chamki,Shyam Benegal's Hindi film adaptation of Carmen.
