Closing a busy festival for the company, UK art-house distributor Artificial Eye Film Distribution has picked up Cannes competition titles Va Savoir! and I'm Going Home (Vou Para Casa).

Feted in Screen International's review as "resplendent from first frame to last" Jacques Rivette's Va Savoir! centres on the drama created by an Italian theatre group on tour in Paris. The film was sold at Cannes by Celluloid Dreams.

Manoel de Oliveira's I'm Going Home, sold on the Croisette by Gemini Films, stars veteran French actor Michel Piccoli, John Malkovich and Catherine Deneuve and tells the story of a successful theatre actor overcoming the death of his wife, daughter and son-in-law.

The acquisitions cap an active festival for Artificial Eye: it acquired Michael Haneke's The Piano Teacher pre-Cannes, and closed deals on both Jean-Luc Godard's Eloge De L'Amour and Cedric Kahn's Roberto Succo during the festival.
