Ulrich Seidl, Jessica Hausner, Michael Glawogger, Goran Rebic and Bady Minck are among 28 Austrian-based filmmakers participatingin The Mozart Minute film project for the Wiener Mozartjahr2006 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang AmadeusMozart.

Speaking to ScreenDaily.com at the Viennale this week, project coordinator Christine Dollhofer explained that the directors were approached by Mozartjahr artistic director Peter Marboeto present their views of the Mozart phenomenon in the form of 60-second shortcinematic statements. The films can be about any kind of theme that thedirectors associate with Mozart.

The films, whose overall running time will be around half an hour, were100% financed from the Mozartjahr budget and are allbeing shot on 35mm.

After premieringat the 'Mozart and the Cinema' festival in Vienna in January, thefilms will be screened throughout the year on Vienna's arthousescreens and multiplex cinemas as well as appearing in the schedules of Austrianpublic broadcaster ORF and the German language channel 3sat.

Dollhofer pointedout that English subtitles are being prepared so that the films can be shown atinternational festivals in 2006. Meanwhile, the collection is already set toshow at March's Diagonale - Festival of AustrianCinema in Graz and next year's Viennale.

Vienna-baseddistributor Sixpack Film is handling the localdistribution and will also coordinate presentation abroad.
