BAFTA hasannounced the dates of its Orange British Academy Film Awards for 2005, whichwill be held on Saturday February 12.

As inrecent years, the BAFTAs will take place two weeks before the Oscars, which arescheduled for Sunday, February 27, 2005.

Thepre-Oscar date has helped the BAFTAs grow significantly in stature, and hascemented its position as a crucial part of the campaign for the Oscarsthemselves.

The Awardswill air on leading UK terrestrial broadcaster BBC One.

The BAFTAAwards are voted for by the British Academy's 5000 film voting members.Attendees as nominees or presenters this year included Bill Nighy, Sir IanMcKellen, Anne Reid, Emma Thompson, Renee Zellweger, Scarlett Johansson, NaomiWatts, Johnny Depp, Laura Linney, Holly Hunter, Jon Voight, Benicio Del Toro,Jude Law, Paul Bettany, Judy Parfitt, Anthony Minghella, Peter Jackson, TimBurton and Helena Bonham Carter.
