Glen Basner's fledgling FilmNation Entertainment has acquired GreeneStreet Films International ahead of Sundance and next month's EFM in Berlin and will serve as the exclusive international sales agent for GreeneStreet going forward.

As part of the agreement with GreeneStreet, FilmNation will sell the films financed and produced by A Bigger Boat, the television and film entity formed recently by former Lionsgate acquisitions and production chief Peter Block that runs in partnership with GreeneStreet. FilmNation will attend Sundance looking to acquire titles.

GreeneStreet Films International head Amy Beecroft will join FilmNation as senior vice president of international sales. The remaining GreeneStreet Films International staff will either be absorbed by the acquisition or remain with GreeneStreet and A Bigger Boat.

The first projects to be sold by FilmNation include A Bigger Boat's thriller Frozen written and directed by Adam Green, GreeneStreet and A Bigger Boat's Untitled Peter Farrelly/Charlie Wessler comedy, which Overture Films will release in North America, and The Invisible Women from Cloverfield director Matt Reeves. Additional films will be announced shortly.

Basner and GreeneStreet previously worked together on In The Bedroom when Basner was at Good Machine International. More recently Basner sold Awake during his tenure as head of The Weinstein Company International.

Michael Hogan, Peter Block and Brian Kornreich brokered the deal on behalf of GreeneStreet with Basner on behalf of FilmNation.

'We are really excited to be in business with GreeneStreet and A Bigger Boat and to have the opportunity to bring their quality films to international audiences,' Basner said. 'Amy is a talented executive with an established track record in the international sales business and we are thrilled that she is joining our team.'

GreeneStreet co-heads John Penotti and Tim Williams added: 'Since the production capabilities of our company are growing through A Bigger Boat's upcoming films, this is a perfect opportunity to segue our longstanding international sales business into the very capable hands of FilmNation. Glen is that rare film sales executive who understands both the challenges of melding the creative intentions and the business goals of the independent film world. GreeneStreet and A Bigger Boat are thrilled to be a part his new and talented team at FilmNation, and look forward to a productive partnership on our growing slate.'

Basner launched FilmNation in 2008 and recently hired Aaron Ryder to run the production arm. FilmNation serves as the exclusive international sales agent for Media Rights Capital (MRC) and Samuels Media Group and also signed a non-exclusive multi-title deal with Endgame Entertainment. Basner attended last autumn's AFM when he commenced pre-sales on three upcoming titles to be produced by M Night Shyamalan including The Devil.
