Carlos Reygadas' Mexican drama Battle In Heaven will launch the 6th Annual "FilmComment Selects" series at New York's Walter Reade Theatre in the LincolnCentre, which runs from Feb 15-28.

The series of pictures chosen by editorial staff from Film Commentmagazine includes photographer William Eggleston's 1974 soul music documentary StrandedIn Canton, a spotlighton Raul Ruiz, and a focus on Elaine May, who will take part in an on-stageconversation with her former artistic partner Mike Nichols.

"May made her name as one half of the legendary 1960s comedyteam Nichols and May, and soon became known as a brilliant comic actress (CaliforniaSuite, Small Time Crooks),a playwright and a screenwriter (Heaven Can Wait, The Birdcage) and a member of that exclusive secret societyof script doctors (Tootsie, Reds)," Film Comment editor Gavin Smith said.

"But May is above all the director of four masterpieces: ANew Leaf, in which shestarred opposite Walter Matthau; the devastatingly funny Neil Simon adaptation TheHeartbreak Kid; thelegendary Mikey and Nicky, starring John Cassavetes and Peter Falk; and the hilarious and unfairlymaligned Ishtar,co-starring Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman."

Other screenings include Wang Xiaoshuai's Chinese coming-of-agetale Shanghai Dreams,Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Japanese ghost story Loft, Niki Karimi's Iranian debut drama OneNight, ErnestAbdyshaparov's Kyrgyzstan comedy Saratan, and Billy O'Brien's Irish horror story Isolation, among others.
