The BBC dominated the drama categories in the nominations for this year's British Academy Television Awards, garnering 11 out of 20 nods.

BBC1's Wives & Daughters was the most heavily nominated BBC drama production, picking up nods for best actress (Francesca Annis), best actor (Michael Gambon) and best drama serial.

ITV's Lost For Words was also nominated in three categories, receiving nods for best actress (Thora Hird), best actor (Pete Postlethwaite) and best single drama. In total, the UK's ITV network picked up five nominations in the drama categories. Channel 4 picked up the remaining four.
