Annette Bening will receive the American Society Of Cinematographers' (ASC) Board Of Governors Award at the 22nd Annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards on Jan 26 in Hollywood.

The honour is presented to individuals 'who have made significant contributions to advancing the global art of film-making', such as previous recipients like Bening's husband Warren Beatty, Gregory Peck, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Jodie Foster and Sydney Pollack.

'Annette Bening is a notable addition to a diverse and venerable list of recipients of this recognition,' chairman of the ASC's awards committee Russ Alsobrook said.

Bening earned Oscar nominations for The Grifters, American Beauty and Being Julia. Her credits include Running With Scissors, The American President, Bugsy and Valmont.
