Susanne Bier's Brothershas won the Hamburg Film Critics' Prize, which was awarded at theFilmfest Hamburg for the first time this year. The win comes just days after Brothers won two best acting Golden Shells at the SanSebastian film festival.

The critics' jury - which included representatives ofthe Der Spiegel and Stern magazines - also gave a Special Mention to Israelifilmmakers Ronit and Shlomi Elkabetz for To Take A Wife because of the exceptional acting performances inthe film.

Hamburg-based director Ayse Polat was presented with theEuros 10,000 Otto Sprenger Prize for her Locarno prize-winner En Garde. The Otto Sprenger Foundation also gave a specialprize - worth Euros 10,000 - to local production house Wueste Film which wasbehind such films as Fatih Akin's Head-On and Anno Saul's Kebab Connection.

Meanwhile, Spanish filmmaker Antonion Mercero received theEuros 2,500 'Michel' for Station 4 as the best film in the KinderFilmfest, while the Audience Award wentto Joram Luersen's In Orangewhich also picked up a Special Mention from the children's competition jury.
