Easter crowds favoured comedy and family fare as Paramount's Blades Of Glory and Buena Vista's Meet The Robinsons beat off R-rated Grindhouse and three other new releases to hold on to the top two spots.

Blades Of Glory added an estimated $23m to raise the running total to $68.4m after two weekends, while the animated feature Meet The Robinsons raised its two-week tally by $17m to $52.2m.

Sony's family sequel Are We Done Yet' starring Ice Cube was the highest ranking new release and opened in third place on $15m.

Opening one place behind in fourth was Dimension Film's B-side double bill Grindhouse from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, which grossed a disappointing $11.6m. It wasn't the greatest weekend for The Weinstein Company as TMNT, to which it has international rights, fell five places to ninth in the second weekend on $4.9m for $46.7m.

Warner Bros' supernatural horror film The Reaping starring Hilary Swank opened in fifth place on $10.1m, while Fox's family film Firehouse Dog opened in 10th place on $4m. Miramax's drama The Hoax starring Richard Gere opened in limited release in 15th place on $1.5m and expands wide next weekend.

Next weekend's wide releases are: Fox's Viking adventure Pathfinder starring Karl Urban; Lionsgate's crime mystery Slow Burn with Ray Liotta and L L Cool J; Paramount's thriller Disturbia starring Shia LaBeouf and Carrie-Anne Moss; Paramount Vantage's comedy Year Of The Dog with Molly Shannon and Peter Sarsgaard; and Sony/Revolution's thriller Perfect Stranger starring Bruce Willis and Halle Berry.
