UPDATED: Early numbers from Warner Bros Pictures International put the tentpole at an estimated Rmb 80.5m after the first three days.
Gravity stormed to number one on Tuesday (November 19) on $4.7m (Rmb 29m) from 5,854 screens to register the studio’s biggest non-holiday opening day of all time in the territory.
It added $4.5m (Rmb 27.7m) on the second day, while flash numbers for November 21 indicate the film brought in a further $3.9m (Rmb 24m). At least $2m of the $13.2m running total has come from IMAX screens.
The international running total stands at more than $293.6m.
