The Paramount and Regency Enterprises epic from Darren Aronofsky delivered the biggest opening day in South Korea so far this year from 730 screens.

Sources at the studio claimed the debut was on a par with the opening days of each of Gravity and Inception.

The Biblical epic also arrives this weekend in Mexico, one week before North America. Australia and Russia are the next two major markets on March 27. The UK Brazil, Germany and France will open in early-to-mid April.

Noah cost around $125m to produce and stars Russell Crowe in the title role alongside Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, Ray Winstone, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth and Anthony Hopkins as Methuselah.

Protozoa Pictures Production’s Scott Franklin and Aronofsky produced alongside Mary Parent and Arnon Milchan.

Executive producers are Ari Handel and Chris Brigham. Aronofsky and Handel wrote the screenplay.
