The World Soundtrack Academy has named its nominees for thethree key categories in the annual World Soundtrack Awards, an initiative ofthe Flanders International Film Festival - Ghent, which will this year bepresented in Ghent on Oct 14.

The Academy, which was founded in 2001 and now includes 250composers, presents awards in three categories - soundtrack composer ofthe year, best original soundtrack of the year (orchestral) and best originalsong written directly for a film. At a later date, the Academy will also selectdiscovery of the year.

In the soundtrack composer of the year category, thenominees are Danny Elfman for Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Alberto Iglesias for The ConstantGardener, Dario Marianelli for PrideAnd Prejudice, James Newton Howard for KingKong and John Powell for Ice Age:The Meltdown.

In the best original soundtrack of the year category, thenominees are Gustavo Santaolalla for Brokeback Mountain, James Newton Howard for King Kong, John Williams for Munich, Dario Marianelli for Pride And Prejudice and Alberto Iglesias for The ConstantGardener.

In the best original song written for film, the nominationsare "A Love That Will Never Grow Old" from Brokeback Mountain, music by Gustavo Santaolalla, lyrics by BernieTaupin, performed by Emmylou Harris; "Can't Take It In" from TheChronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, music by Harry Gregson-Williams, lyrics by ImogenHeap, performed by Imogen Heap; "Magic Works" from Harry Potter AndThe Goblet Of Fire, music and lyrics byJarvis Cocker, performed by Cocker, Jonny Greenwood, Philip Selway, SteveMackey, Steve Claydon and Jason Buckle; "Mdlwembe" from Tsotsi, music by Kabelo "Kaybee" Ikaneng, lyrics by Zola,performed by Zola; "Our Town" from Cars, music and lyrics by Randy Newman, performed by James Taylor.
