Rodney Evans's HarlemRenaissance drama Brother To Brother won the OUTstanding American Narrative Feature awardyesterday (18), while Sebastien Lifshitz won the OUTstanding InternationalNarrative Feature prize for the drama Wild Side at the 22nd annual Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival Outfest.

Jessica Chandler's A FineState This Is took the OUTstandingDocumentary Feature prize for its profile of lesbian artist Deborah FargoWhitman, while Roger Robinson won best actor honours for Brother To Brother and Robin Greenspan and Lacie Harmon shared best actressfor Girl Play.

Ryan Shiraki and LeciaRosenthal rounded out the Grand Jury winners with the OUTstanding Screenwritingprize for the drama Poster Boy.

In the audience awards,Tennyson Bardwell's comedy Dorian Blues won the HBO OUTstanding First Narrative Feature, Lee Friedlander wonthe OUTstanding Lesbian Narrative Feature prize for Girl Play, and Rodney Evans enjoyed further kudos with theOUTstanding Narrative Feature for Brother To Brother.

Sonia Slutsky's DragKings On Tour won the OUTstandingDocumentary Feature, Tamika Miller's meditation on friendship Gift ForLiving won the OUTstanding NarrativeShort Film, Debra A Wilson's Butch Mystique claimed the OUTstanding Documentary Short Filmaward, and Franco Zeffirelli's Callas Forever won OUTstanding Soundtrack honours.

In the special programmingawards section, the Freedom Award went to Patrik-Ian Polk for relationshipdrama Noah's Arc, EkachaiUekrongtham won OUTstanding Emerging Talent for the Thai kick boxing tale BeautifulBoxer, and Jennifer Reeves wonOUTstanding Artistic Achievement for the psychological drama The Time WeKilled.

"Outfest had a marvellousyear," executive director Stephen Gutwillig said in a statement.

"We featured an interesting,eclectic and far-reaching assortment of films, perhaps one of our strongestlineups in years, and our audiences responded overwhelmingly well.

"The movies, the parties,the panels, the events - they all exceeded even our enthusiastic expectations.I am happy to say it's been another good year."

This year's festival, whichran from Jul 8-19, featured 220 films and videos from 22 countries.
