Bruce Beresford will be president of the international jury for the second Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSAs), to be held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia on Nov 11, 2008.

Beresford is currently filming Mao's Last Dancer, an adaptation of the book of the same name, which is partly shooting in China.

APSA chairman Des Power said: 'Bruce Beresford's remarkable body of work spans cultures and continents and it is particularly appropriate to appoint him to head the APSA Jury in 2008, the year in which he is making a film set in China, Australia and the United States.'

The APSAs - a collaboration with CNN International, UNESCO and FIAPF - honour the works of filmmakers across the Asia Pacific region covering more than 70 countries.

Power also confirmed the nominations council for this year's awards which will be headed by Korea 's Kim Hong-Joon who also heads the Chungmuro International Film Festival in Seoul.
