In its first wave ofinternational openings Bruce Almighty grossed $5m over the weekend, scoring three number one bows andbreaking several records along the way.

Distributed through BuenaVista International the comedy opened in Italy on a terrific $3.8m from 353screens, scoring the biggest ever bow for star Jim Carrey.

In Singapore the film took$680,000 from 33 screens, claiming 60% market share and setting a new openingrecord for Carrey.

In The Philippines BruceAlmighty grossed $540,000 from 60, againsetting a new opening mark for its star.

Pixar's new animatedgem Finding Nemo opened inMalaysia (day and date with the US) at number one on $260,000 from 29 screens.

The film enjoyed 40% marketshare in what was the biggest ever Pixar opening in the territory, replacing ABug's Life.

Bringing Down The House opened in second place in the UK, grossing $1.9mfrom 388 sites for the biggest opening for star Steve Martin.

The comedy also opened inMexico where it took $900,000 from 310 screens and also scored Martin'sbest ever bow.

Bringing Down The House grossed $2.8m over the weekend and raised itsinternational running total to $7.2m.
