Derick Martini’s coming-of-age story has nearly finished shooting; Content will show first teaser in Cannes.

Content Film has acquired international sales rights to director Derick Martini’s Hick.

The cast features Chloe Grace Moretz, Blake Lively, Eddie Redmayne, Alec Baldwin, Juliette Lewis, Rory Culkin and Ray McKinnon.

Andreas Portes wrote the script, adapted from her own novel. The story is about a 13-year-old girl’s striving for a better life.

The film is nearly finished with production, after a shoot in and around Wilmington, NC.

Producers are Steven Siebert, Christian Taylor, Charles de Portas and Jonathan Cornick. The project is a Lighthouse Entertainment and Taylor Lane production executive produced by Stone River. Martini previously directed Lymelife.

Producer de Portes said: “From Oscar nominees, to both an award winning director and writer, to see of the hottest American and British actors of a younger generation, each person signed up for this film because they believed in the story and that it should be told; they have poured their souls into this work. It’s a hard hitting coming of age pull no punches journey and a slap in the face wake up call that when the world hammers you down and you’re born into nothing, you may just choose not to accept it.’

Content Film President Jamie Carmichael added, “I had the great pleasure of visiting the set a few days ago and I was blown away by the quality of the production and the killer ensemble cast.  We really have some of the most exciting actors working today being directed by the very talented Derick Martini – it’s a very potent combination – and we can’t wait to show our footage at Cannes.”

Content will show buyers a first teaser during the Cannes Market.

CAA and WME are repping North America.

Content’s slate also includes 96 Minutes, Knuckle, The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, Ironclad and Age of Heroes.
