EXCLUSIVE: UK indie takes rights to French box office hit.

UK independent film distributor Swipe Films has taken UK rights to French box office smash hit, Love is in the Air starring Ludivine Sagnier (who is on the jury here).

Swipe will distribute in the UK and Ireland. Gregoire Melin negotiated the deal on behalf of Kinology.

Swipe has also been doing heady business with its French wine movie, You Will Be My Son. Swipe’s Frank Mannion revealed that the film, which opened in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on back in December, has just entered its 6th month in release, making it the longest running film in UK cinemas in 2012/2013.

The BBC has now acquired the film for TV broadcast in the UK.

The film stars Niels Arestrup. It was shot at the Clos Fourtet in St Emilion, famous for its Premier Cru Grand Cru Classe.

For the release of the film, Swipe Films did cross-promotions with wine merchants including the wine estate featured in the film, Clos Fourtet, Berry Bros and Rudd, Roberson Wine, Laithwaites, Jeroboams, in England, Findlater Wine and Spirit Group in Ireland and Peckhams Wine in Scotland
