Un Certain Regard jury president Tim Roth and his colleagues made the announcement on Saturday evening (26). Franco’s drama After Lucia, pictured, is a Mexico-France co-production.

A special jury prize went to Benoît Delepine and Gustave Kervern’s Le Grand Soir, while Suzanne Clement of Laurence Anyways and Emilie Dequenne of A Perdre La Raison shared the best actress prize. A special distinction of the jury went to Djeca by Aida Begic.

“This was an extraordinarily strong group of films and our deliberations were passionate,” Roth said. “The filmmakers never once failed us! Incredible!”

Roth’s fellow UCR jurors were Leila Bekhti, Sylvie Pras, Tonie Marshall and Luciano Monteagudo.

The Cannes FIPRESCI jury gave Benh Zeitlin’s Beasts Of The Southern Wild the prize for best film in UCR, while Sergei Loznitsa’s In The Fog was elected best of the competition and Rachid Djaidani’s Hold Back triumphed in the Directors’ Fortnight section.
