The buyer has acquired all Canadian rights to Paolo Sorrentino’s latest offering, set to premiere in competition here tomorrow [21].

The Great Beauty (La Grande Bellezza) tells the story of an aging writer in contemporary Rome who recalls with bitterness his lost youth.

Tony Servillo stars alongside Carlo Verdone and Sabrina Ferilli. Sorrentino conceived of the story and co-wrote the screenplay with Umberto Contarello.

The film is Sorrentino’s fifth to compete for the Palme d’Or following This Must Be The Place, Il Divo, The Family Friend and The Consequences Of Love. Mongrel targets an autumn release.
