New York-based producer and distributor CAVU Pictures has acquired the drama Take Out and will stage a platform release in New York on June 6 before rolling out to other arthouse markets.
Take Out was directed by Sean Baker and Shih-Ching Tsou and written and produced by Baker. It premiered at the 2004 Slamdance Film Festival before going on to play at more than 30 festivals.
The story follows an illegal Chinese immigrant in New York who must find money by the end of the day to pay the people who smuggled him into the country.
