Hong Kong's Celestial Pictures has reached a long-term deal with Silicon Valley-based Jaman Inc, under which the online movie distributor has acquired internet distribution rights to 50 titles from the Shaw Brothers library for the US and Canada.
Key titles to be distributed under the deal include martial arts classics such as Chang Cheh's The Duel and The Legend Of The Fox and Chu Yuan's The Sentimental Swordsman.
Jaman, which aims to build an online community as well as distribute movies via both a pay-per-view and pay-per-purchase model, previously struck a 200-title (including 50 features) deal with San Jose-based film festival Cinequest. It has also sealed a similar 30-title deal with Latin American distributor Venevision.
