Hong Kong-based Celestial Pictures has launched a mobile TV channel, Kung Fu TV, on leading Thai mobile network provider Advanced Info Service (AIS).

The channel features original kung-fu content from Celestial's Shaw Brothers film library, ranging in length from 30 seconds to three minutes, including video clips of fight sequences, music videos, action movie trailers, animated wallpapers and video ringtones.

'Mobile operators are constantly looking for opportunities to increase revenue from value-added services, such as creating a unique mobile TV experience to attract more subscribers. Kung Fu TV is tailor-made for mobile subscribers and offers an instant adrenaline rush to action-loving audiences on the move,' said Celestial CEO William Pfeiffer.

Pfeiffer added that the company has plans to roll out the channel in Malaysia, where Celestial's parent company is based, and other territories in the near future.
