Four Christmases added $18.2m for $70.8m, followed by Twilight on $13.2m for $138.6m and Bolt on $9.7m for $79.3m. Fox's Australia held well in its second weekend and climbed one place to fourth on $7m for $30.9m. Rounding out the top five was Sony's Quantum Of Solace, which crossed $150m after $6.6m raised the tally to $151.5m.
The two new releases that broke into the top ten were Lionsgate's comic book adaptation Punisher: War Zone starring Northern Ireland's Ray Stevenson as a vigilante and Sony's Cadillac Records about the Chess Records label that launched the career of greats like Muddy Waters, Etta James and Chuck Berry and stars Adrien Brody, Jeffrey Wright, Beyonce Knowles and Mos Def.
Punisher: War Zone launched in eighth place on $4m and Cadillac Records opened one place below on $3.5m.
Focus Features' Milk expanded in its second weekend into 99 theatres although it dropped one place to 11th on $1.7m for $4.1m. Universal's drama and likely awards contender Frost/Nixon starring Frank Langella and Michael Sheen scored a sensational debut, taking $180,147 from three screens for a $60,049 average.
Next weekend's wide releases are: Fox's sci-fi remake The Day The Earth Stood Still with Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly; Overture's family comedy Nothing Like The Holidays starring Freddy Rodriguez, Debra Messing and John Leguizamo; and the animated feature Delgo through Freestyle Releasing.
