Cinema Libre Studio has picked up worldwide rights to Glenn Gers' disFIGURED, which makes its world premiere at the AFI Dallas International Film Festival on Apr 1.

disFIGURED stars Deidra Edwards and Staci Lawrence as strangers who meet through a California-based Fat Acceptance group and become firm friends. Launchpad Productions' David W Higgins served as executive producer.

'I wrote, directed, co-edited and financed disFIGURED because it's a movie I wanted to see,' Gers said. 'The issues of appearance, control, isolation and our complicated relationships to our own bodies seem universal to me and I wanted to spark a dialogue about weight issues.'

Gers wrote the thriller Fracture starring Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling and the comedy Mad Money, which stars Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes and marked Overture Films' maiden release earlier in the year.

The AFI Dallas International Film Festival runs from Mar 27-Apr 6.
