Content has acquired world rights to The Machine, a sci-fi romantic thriller to be directed by Caradog James.

John Giwa-Amu from Red and Black Films produces.

The film is currently being cast and Content will show buyers a VFX teaser in Cannes.

Content head Jamie Carmichael said: “I have been incredibly impressed by Caradog and John’s detailed and visionary work on The Machine, and we believe that together, Content and Red & Black, have a fantastic opportunity to build another UK based action franchise. We expect this to be the first of a substantial ongoing series.”

Producer Giwa-Amu said: “The Machine is an intelligent, VFX-driven action thriller inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. We’re putting together a top quality production team and we’ve secured access to an ex-military base near Cardiff for the shoot.  The film’s acquisition by Content, who are experts in elevated genre material, is a big thrill for Red and Black Films.”

Stunts will be by Peter Pedrero (Harry Potter) and Manuel Puro is casting.

Director James added: “Our film is the result of two years of research and planning. John and I have put our heart and soul into creating a thrilling sci-fi, full of mind blowing VFX and powerful ideas. The world we’re exploring in the movie is beautiful, authentic and terrifying. We’re incredibly excited to be working with Jamie and his LA and London teams to get our film out to as wide an audience as possible.”
