Penelope Cruz will receive AFI Fest's annual Tribute in Hollywoodon Nov 2 immediately prior to the centerpiece gala screening of PedroAlmodovar's Spanish foreign language Oscar entry Volver.

Festival organisers also announced several Special Presentationscreenings including the world premiere of Karen Moncrieff's ensemble murdermystery The Dead Girl,and the North American premiere of Nicholas Hytner's English school drama TheHistory Boys.

The Dead Girl stars Josh Brolin, Rose Byrne, Toni Collette, James Franco,Marcia Gay Harden, and Mary Steenburgen, among others. The History Boys stars Richard Griffiths, Frances de laTour, Samuel Anderson and Samuel Barnett.

The other screenings are: Roger Michell's drama Venus starring Peter O'Toole; WilliamFriedkin's horror tale Bug starring Ashley Judd; Joey Lauren Adams' Southern drama ComeEarly Morning, which alsostars Judd; Matt Checkowski and Kurt Mattilla's drama Lies And Alibis starring Steve Coogan; Michael Cain andMatt Radecki's documentary TV Junkie; Alexandra Lipsitz' documentary Air Guitar Nation; and Randolph Mark Viverito'sdocumentary My Name Is Jackie Beat.

The Cruz tribute will feature an on-stage interview, film clipsand several surprise appearances from friends.

"Penelope Cruz is an actress whose dynamic spirit trulyshines through every character she creates," AFI's director of programmingNancy Collet said.

"Our challenge in choosing an artist each year is to findsomeone with a compelling body of work about whom we crave to know more. Thereis no doubt that Penelope fits this criteria."

Cruz' credits include Jamon, Jamon, Belle Epoque, The Hi-LoCountry, Woman On Top, Open Your Eyes, Vanilla Sky, and Blow.
