Shooting will begin next month in Bangladesh on Sadik Ahmed's The Last Thakur, the 'Spaghetti Eastern' that is being co-produced by Curzon Artificial Eye and the UK's National Film & Television School.

The film is being executive produced by Philip Knatchbull, Nik Powell and Daniel Chamier. The producer is Tamsin Lyons. The crew is made up primarily of NFTS students.

Channel 4 has already boarded the project, picking up UK premiere TV rights. Delivery date is May next year. The film is guaranteed a theatrical release through Curzon Artificial Eye.

The Last Thakur is a film in similar vein to A Fistful of Dollars and Last Man Standing. It is about a stranger in a small town who plays two groups against each other.

The cast features some of Bangladesh's best known actors, among them Tariq Anam, Rubel Amin and Tanveer Hussan.

The Last Thakur marks Curzon Artificial Eye's first stab at co-production.
