Los Angeles and Berlin-based Leomax Entertainment has optioned the screenplay The Seeing (formerly 27 Times) and set Spanish effects supervisor and commercials director David Alcade to direct.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin in Regina, Canada, in the early summer on the story of a 14-year-old boy haunted by visions of violent deaths who learns about the truth behind his parents' murder.

Thomas Thonson wrote the screenplay.

Leomax will take the picture out theatrically through its first-look deal with Starz or a third party distributor once the film is completed.

'The Seeing is a very special project for us, and we are fortunate to have found a director with such profound visual skills, while maintaining the sensitivity required to tell this unique story,' Leomax principal and venture capitalist Ingo Vollkammer said. 'David's pitch blew me away, and I can't wait to get this picture in theatres.'
Vollkammer and US producer Scott Einbinder launched Leomax in 2007
backed by Swiss hedge fund Leomax.

Nic Chartier's Voltage Pictures is handling foreign sales for Leomax and its genre label Indigomotion.
