The former head of marketing for Warner Bros has been named professor of public relations and advertising at Chapman University’s Dodge College Of Film and Media Arts.

Taubin will guide PR and advertising students as they create marketing plans for student films and will serve on the greenlight committee for Chapman’s recently launched microbudget production company, Chapman Entertainment.

“Adding Dawn Taubin to our full-time faculty continues our philosophy of hiring people with deep industry experience to make sure our students understand the business of the business,” Dodge College dean Bob Bassett said. “We are fortunate that individuals like Dawn, who have unparalleled experience and expertise, want to give back to the next generation of industry leaders.”

“As an adjunct professor I’ve come to have great appreciation for this unique programme,” Taubin said. “It is exciting and rewarding for me to take what I have learned throughout my career in entertainment marketing and share it with the creative and passionate Chapman students.”

Taubin was head of marketing at Warner Bros for six years, in which time the studio crossed $1bn in ticket sales every year. She worked on the Harry Potter franchise, the Matrix trilogy, The Danny Ocean series, Batman Begins, The Departed, Happy Feet and Million Dollar Baby, among others.

She joined Warner Bros in 1989 as vp of publicity and held various positions until she was promoted to head of marketing in 2002. Prior to that she served at MGM/UA Communications and Warner Amex Cable Communications.

Taubin currently heads her own company, Cinema Vision, which provides entertainment marketing consultation to entertainment companies.
