Derek Jacobi has joined Jeff Goldblum and Willem Dafoe on the cast of Paul Schrader's holocaust drama Adam Resurrected.

Based on Israeli author Yoram Kaniuk's novel, the story follows a former circus entertainer who was spared the gas chamber to entertain Jews as they marched to their deaths.

After the war he ends up in an asylum populated solely by holocaust survivors and struggles to make sense of his life.

Moritz Bliebtreu, Hana Laszlo, Israeli actresses Evgenia Dudina and Ayelet Zurer, and German actors Joachim Krol, Juliane Koehler and Veronica Ferres out the key cast.

'We are thrilled that an actor with Sir Derek's pedigree has joined our international cast,' producer Ehud Blumberg said. 'His respected work across all mediums makes him an incredible asset to this important film.'

Bleiberg Entertainment is selling rights here to the project, which began filming last month in Romania and will also shoot in Israel and Germany.

Bleiberg Entertainment is financing and producing with EMS/3Ls Werner Wirsing.

ICM's Paul Lyon-Maris negotiated the deal on behalf of Jacobi with Bleiberg and attorney Rob Nau.
