Twelve companies including Cinea and Philips Electronics haveformed the Digital Watermarking Alliance (DWA) to promote content protectionwithin the industry.

'Digital watermarking is enjoying a steady resurgence ofinterest now that the media industry is finding more and more applications forit throughout the content lifecycle - from creation through toproduction, packaging, distribution, and consumption,' Bill Rosenblatt,president of GiantSteps Media Technology Strategies and editor of DRM Watch,said.

'The Digital Watermarking Alliance will perform an importantrole in educating the industry on the wide variety of uses for digitalwatermarking, exchanging best practices, and generally facilitating the growthof this field whose potential is only beginning to be tapped.'
