The acquisition follows that of Tekken announced over the weekend as the ambitious Starz-backed distributor builds an eclectic library for its expanding distribution business.

Keith Bearden makes his feature directorial debut and wrote the screenplay. Gilbert Films financed and the company’s Gary Gilbert and Jordan Horowitz produced. Their credits include The Kids Are All Right.

Meet Monica Velour is a treasure, and we’re proud to bring it to Anchor Bay,” Clark said. “Not only does the film boast a career performance from Kim Cattrall, but it’s also a remarkable introduction to a pair of bright new talents: writer-director Keith Bearden and leading man Dustin Ingram.”

Meet Monica Velour was a special working experience for me,” Cattrall said. “I loved the challenge of creating a completely new character so unlike what most people perceive me as playing. It was a terrific opportunity, especially working with someone as talented and perceptive as first time director Keith Bearden.”

“Anchor Bay Films is the perfect home for our film,” Gilbert said. “They bring a keen insight into the independent film arena, as well as a wealth of experience in promoting films that are special, that go beyond the usual mainstream entertainment.”

Anchor Bay’s release slate includes Kill The Irishman starring Ray Stevenson, Christopher Walken, Val Kilmer and Vincent D’Onofrio and a remake of the 1978 cult classic I Spit On Your Grave.
