Indomina Releasing has added US rights to Hong Kong martial arts hit Bodyguards And Assassins to its rapidly expanding line-up.

Indomina’s vice-president of acquisitions Rob Williams brokered the deal with executive vice-president Katherine Lee of sales agent We Distribution.

The film stars Donnie Yen and Leon Lai and is a turn of the century story about a group of fighters charged with protecting their future leader.

Teddy Chen directed from a screenplay by Tin Nam Chun, Junli Guo, Bing Wu and James Yuen. Peter Ho-Sun Chan and Jianxin Huang produced.

The distributor said Bodyguards And Assassins has grossed more than $50m in Asia and swept the 29th Annual Hong Kong Film Awards with 18 nominations, winning for best film, director, supporting actor, cinematography, action choreography and original film score, among others.

Indomina recently acquired Griff The Invisible, Wasted On The Young, True Legend and Fire Of Conscience.
